Andhra University was established in 1926 as a residential teaching- cum-affiliating University. The 89 year old institution is fortunate to have Sir C.R. Reddy as its founder Vice chancellor and Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as the second Vice-Chancellor. The foundations laid by these two visionaries proved to be fruitful in the succeeding decades. Andhra University became a trendsetter in Higher Education and University Administration in many respects. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India has reaccredited at “A” Grade with a CGPA of 3.60 out of four point scale in 2016. The University got ISO 9001:2008 certification for its quality standards.
